🌿 The Beginning of a Gem’s Journey

A Story of True Provenance 

It began on a crisp Monday—July 21st, 2025—up on our claim in the Divide area of the Gemfields. Buckets were dug, laughter shared, and in the hum of the pulsator, a moment etched itself into memory. Steve’s Dad gave me a good-natured telling-off for specking, and I protested with a grin: “How could I not spot it?” There it was—gleaming amongst the gravel—a 10.1ct green sapphire, bold and beautiful.

We handed it over during Gemfest in August to Joel Phelps, one of the finest gem cutters in the country (in our humble opinion). And on October 26th, we picked up the finished stone: a breathtaking 4.1ct forest green pear, very slightly included with a feather. It’s a gem that holds its origin like a secret whispered through time.

How often can you trace a sapphire’s journey from the very day and place it was unearthed, to the hands that shaped it, to the moment it’s offered to the world? This isn’t just a gemstone—it’s a chapter waiting to be continued.

Will a collector tuck it into their treasure box?  

Will a jeweller craft it into a keepsake, destined to be passed down through generations?  

Will someone’s grown grandchild one day hold it, hear its story, and feel the pulse of the land it came from?

This is only the beginning.  

And we, for one, can’t wait to see how it ends.
